FMGE October 2026 Registration: Dates, Fee, Exam Schedule and One-Application Rule

FMGE October 2026 registration is now open. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) opened online applications for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) October 2026 at 5:00 PM on September 11, 2026. Eligible candidates can submit their applications until September 25, 2026 at 11:55 PM IST.

The FMGE October 2026 examination will be conducted on October 31, 2026 in computer-based mode at designated examination centres. NBEMS has scheduled the result for declaration by November 30, 2026.

According to the current FMGE October 2026 Information Bulletin, the examination fee is ₹3,940.68 plus ₹709.32 GST, making the total amount payable ₹4,650, excluding payment-gateway charges that may apply.

Applicants should pay particular attention to one NBEMS instruction: submit only one application for the FMGE October 2026 session. If more than one application is submitted, NBEMS may issue the admit card against the application carrying the higher-order Application Sequence Number/Application ID, cancel the other application or applications and forfeit the fees paid for them.

FMGE October 2026 Registration

FMGE October 2026 registration is currently open. The application portal went live on September 11, 2026 at 5:00 PM and will remain open until September 25, 2026 at 11:55 PM IST. Eligible applicants must submit their applications online through the official NBEMS examination system.

The total examination fee for the October session is ₹4,650 including 18% GST. The computer-based examination will be held on October 31, 2026, while the result is scheduled to be declared by November 30, 2026.

Applicants should submit only one application for the October session. Do not create another application merely to correct an error. NBEMS has provided an official edit window from September 29 to September 30, 2026, subject to restrictions on certain fields.

During the September 29–30 edit window, candidates with successfully paid applications can edit permitted information and documents. However, Name, Nationality, Email, Aadhaar, Mobile Number and Test City cannot be edited during this window.

NBEMS has separately provided a October 3–19, 2026 selective edit window for candidates whose photograph, signature or thumb impression is found deficient or incorrect.

Deficiencies relating to specified eligibility documents uploaded with the application can be rectified through the prescribed deficient-document submission portal. The portal will close on October 21, 2026 at 11:55 PM, and NBEMS states that no further opportunity will be provided after this deadline.

Is the FMGE October 2026 Application Portal Open?

Yes. The FMGE October 2026 application portal is open. NBEMS activated online registration at 5:00 PM IST on September 11, 2026. Applications can be submitted until 11:55 PM on September 25, 2026.

The official NBEMS FMGE examination page currently provides access to the October 2026 Information Bulletin, image-upload instructions and Application Link. Candidates should reach the registration system through the official NBEMS FMGE page rather than using links circulated through unrelated websites, social-media posts or messaging groups.

There are two different dates associated with the October session. NBEMS issued the application invitation dated September 10, 2026, while the actual online application portal opened at 5:00 PM on September 11, 2026.

What Is FMGE?

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination is the screening test conducted by NBEMS for eligible foreign-trained medical graduates seeking provisional or permanent medical registration in India under the applicable regulatory framework.

Broadly, FMGE applies to eligible Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by a medical institution outside India, subject to the qualification, recognition, Eligibility Certificate, NEET-UG and other regulatory requirements applicable to the candidate.

Passing FMGE should not be confused with automatically receiving medical registration. A successful candidate must complete the prescribed pass-certificate and identity/document-verification process and satisfy the requirements of the appropriate medical-registration authority.

Why Is There an FMGE October 2026 Session?

The October examination provides another FMGE opportunity during 2026 for eligible foreign medical graduates. Importantly, the October 2026 Information Bulletin states that NBEMS shall now conduct FMGE (Screening Test) three times in a year.

The previous FMGE session was conducted on June 28, 2026, while the next screening test is scheduled for October 31, 2026. For candidates who remain eligible after an earlier unsuccessful attempt, the October session provides another opportunity without a long wait for a later examination cycle.

Can a Candidate Who Appeared in FMGE June 2026 Apply for October?

Yes, provided the candidate has not already qualified FMGE and otherwise satisfies the eligibility requirements for the October session. Under the current NBEMS examination scheme, there is no general restriction on the number of attempts available to an eligible candidate.

However, FMGE is a qualifying examination. Once a candidate has qualified FMGE, that person is no longer eligible to appear in FMGE again.

The official FMGE October 2026 Information Bulletin prescribes a total examination fee of ₹4,650. This consists of an examination fee of ₹3,940.68 and GST of ₹709.32. Payment-gateway charges, if applicable, are additional.

Important clarification: Candidates may encounter a figure of ₹6,195 in older information or some reports. That amount—₹5,250 examination fee plus ₹945 GST—appears in the FMGE June 2026 fee schedule. For the October 2026 session, candidates should follow the current October bulletin, which lists the total payable amount as ₹4,650.

How Can the FMGE Fee Be Paid?

The prescribed fee is paid online through the payment gateway available with the application. Payment can be made using UPI, credit card or debit card issued by banks in India, along with any other mode made available on the application webpage.

After payment, do not assume that a debit from the bank account automatically means the FMGE application is complete. Candidates should check the payment status shown in the application. NBEMS states that the application process is not considered complete until the payment status is displayed as “S” for Successful.

The Most Important Rule: Submit Only One FMGE October 2026 Application

NBEMS has specifically warned candidates against submitting multiple application forms for the same October session.

A candidate can submit the FMGE October 2026 application form only once. If more than one application is found, NBEMS may issue the admit card against the application bearing the higher-order Application Sequence Number/Application ID and cancel the other application or applications, forfeiting the fees paid for them.

Does the One-Application Rule Mean June Candidates Cannot Apply Again?

No. The duplicate-application warning does not mean that a candidate who appeared in an earlier FMGE session cannot apply for October.

The rule means that an applicant should not create multiple forms for the same October 2026 application cycle. An otherwise eligible candidate who has not qualified FMGE can apply for the October session.

What If You Make a Mistake in the FMGE Application?

Do not immediately create another application form because you notice a spelling, academic, document or image problem.

NBEMS has scheduled the main edit window for successfully paid applications from September 29 to September 30, 2026. Permitted information/documents can be edited during this period, but Name, Nationality, Email, Aadhaar, Mobile Number and Test City cannot be changed.

A separate selective edit window for deficient or incorrect photographs, signatures and thumb impressions will run from October 3 to October 19, 2026.

NBEMS has also provided an online deficient-document submission mechanism for specified eligibility documents. The deadline for rectifying such deficiencies is October 21, 2026 at 11:55 PM. No further opportunity is scheduled after that deadline.

Who Is Eligible for FMGE October 2026?

FMGE eligibility is more complex than simply possessing a foreign medical degree. Applicants should read the October 2026 Information Bulletin and applicable NMC rules before paying the fee.

Broad eligibility requirements include:

• The candidate must be an Indian citizen or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) within the applicable regulatory framework.
• The candidate must possess the required primary medical qualification awarded by a medical institution outside India.
• The qualification must be recognised for enrolment as a medical practitioner in the country where the institution awarding the qualification is situated.
• The result of the final examination for the primary medical qualification must have been declared on or before August 31, 2026.
• The candidate must possess the applicable Eligibility Certificate where one is required.
• Candidates covered by the applicable post-2018 NEET-UG provisions must satisfy the relevant NEET/Eligibility Certificate requirements.
• Applicants must satisfy NMC requirements applicable to the date on which they entered the foreign medical programme.

What Is the Final Medical Qualification Cut-Off Date?

For FMGE October 2026, the result of the final examination for the candidate’s primary medical qualification must have been declared on or before August 31, 2026.

Candidates must submit proof or documentary evidence clearly establishing that the final examination result for the primary medical qualification was declared by the August 31, 2026 cut-off.

The submitted document must also establish that the candidate successfully completed all mandatory required courses with eligible results as required by the institution concerned. If the evidence does not establish completion by the prescribed cut-off or successful completion of all mandatory required courses, the candidature can be cancelled and the candidate declared ineligible.

Foreign Medical Degree Recognition Requirement

The foreign primary medical qualification must satisfy the applicable recognition requirement for enrolment as a medical practitioner in the country where the institution awarding the qualification is situated.

Candidates should ensure that their primary medical qualification can be confirmed by the concerned Indian Embassy as a recognised qualification for enrolment as a medical practitioner in that country, and that the required apostille or Embassy attestation/documentary evidence can be produced as prescribed.

Eligibility Certificate and NEET-UG Requirement

Some candidates are required to possess an Eligibility Certificate under the applicable rules for pursuing a primary medical qualification outside India.

For candidates covered by the relevant regulatory provisions introduced from 2018, a qualifying NEET-UG result may operate as the Eligibility Certificate where the prescribed conditions are satisfied.

Because eligibility depends on factors including citizenship category, year/date of admission and the regulatory framework applicable to the candidate, applicants should not assume that another foreign medical graduate’s document requirements automatically apply to them.

Special Rule for Students Admitted Abroad on or After November 18, 2021

Candidates who took admission to their primary medical qualification on or after November 18, 2021 are assessed strictly under the National Medical Commission’s Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021 (FMGL), as amended from time to time.

A candidate found non-compliant with any applicable provision can be declared ineligible to appear in FMGE. Passing the screening examination cannot override a separate regulatory eligibility deficiency.

Who May Be Exempt From FMGE?

The applicable screening-test regulations contain a limited exemption. A candidate seeking provisional or permanent registration in India may not be required to qualify the Screening Test if the candidate holds an undergraduate medical qualification from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom or the United States of America, has also been awarded a postgraduate medical qualification in one of those specified countries, and satisfies the prescribed recognition conditions for enrolment as a medical practitioner in that country.

Documents FMGE Applicants Should Keep Ready

The October 2026 Information Bulletin controls the exact document requirements. Depending on the candidate’s regulatory category, applicants should be prepared with documents such as:

• valid proof of Indian citizenship or applicable citizenship documentation;

Why the Degree/Apostille Document Must Match

Applicants should ensure that an apostille or Indian Embassy attestation being used relates to the same primary medical qualification document uploaded with the application.

Uploading an unrelated apostille, incomplete qualification document or a document that does not clearly establish the candidate’s final qualification/result can lead to an eligibility deficiency. Candidates should treat document upload as an important part of eligibility verification, not merely as a formality.

FMGE Photograph, Signature and Thumb Impression

NBEMS provides detailed image-upload specifications for the photograph, signature and thumb impression. Candidates should follow the October 2026 image-upload instructions rather than relying on an older FMGE session, YouTube video or previous-session screenshot.

The bulletin requires prescribed candidate images and places particular emphasis on using a recent photograph. A pre-saved photograph should not be more than three months old. Candidates should also follow the instructions relating to background, visibility, file format and other image specifications.

If NBEMS identifies a deficient or incorrect photograph, signature or thumb impression, the selective edit window runs from October 3 to October 19, 2026. Candidates should monitor their registered email and applicant dashboard during this period.

Do Not Pay Until You Have Checked the Form

Before proceeding with payment/final submission, perform a line-by-line review of the application and compare important information with original records.

This is especially important because Name, Nationality, Email, Aadhaar, Mobile Number and Test City cannot be edited during the main September 29–30 correction window.

What Should You Save After Applying?

Do not close the application after payment without preserving evidence of successful submission. Save:

The bulletin provides up to one additional minute per time-bound section to compensate for time used for prescribed manual/digital attendance and verification activities, subject to a maximum of three additional minutes for each part. Accordingly, the scheduled total duration for completing Part I and Part II is 153 minutes each.

FMGE Uses Time-Bound Sections

Each part of FMGE is divided into multiple time-bound sections. Candidates cannot proceed to the next section until the allotted time for the current section has been completed.

After the allotted time for a section expires, candidates cannot return to that section to review questions or modify responses. Questions in the next section begin automatically after completion of the previous section’s allotted time.

NBEMS notes that the actual number of time-restricted sections may vary depending on the total number of questions and operational feasibility. Candidates should therefore follow the test-day instructions displayed for the October examination.

Is There Negative Marking in FMGE?

No. FMGE October 2026 has no negative marking.

Candidates can mark an attempted or unattempted question for review within the permitted section. Questions marked for review are evaluated according to the normal marking scheme, but candidates must revisit them before the relevant section’s allotted time ends.

How Many Marks Are Required to Pass FMGE?

A candidate must score at least 150 marks out of 300 to be declared qualified in FMGE.

FMGE is a qualifying examination rather than a rank-based admission examination. Eligible candidates’ results are declared as Pass or Fail according to the prescribed qualifying standard.

Is There Re-Evaluation or Grace Marks?

The current NBEMS FMGE scheme states that there is no provision for re-totaling, re-evaluation or award of grace marks in FMGE.

How Many FMGE Attempts Are Allowed?

Under the current NBEMS scheme, there is no restriction on the number of attempts that an otherwise eligible candidate can use to qualify FMGE.

However, once a candidate qualifies FMGE, that person is no longer eligible to sit FMGE again. An examination taken in violation of this rule can be treated as void and cancelled.

FMGE October 2026 Admit Card

NBEMS has confirmed that the FMGE October 2026 admit card will be made live on October 27, 2026 on the official NBEMS website.

Candidates should monitor their registered email and applicant login for information relating to the admit card. The admit card must be downloaded from the official system; candidates should follow all test-day instructions printed on it.

An admit card may not be issued to a candidate who is found ineligible or who fails to resolve required application/document deficiencies within the prescribed timelines.

FMGE October 2026 Exam City

NBEMS will inform applicants about their allotted test city on October 20, 2026. Candidates should monitor their registered email, including spam/junk folders, as well as the applicant login dashboard.

The examination will be conducted on a computer-based platform at designated centres. A city entered as a preference during application should not be treated as the final examination venue until the official city information and admit card are issued.

Candidates should avoid making non-refundable travel arrangements solely on the basis of a test-city preference entered in the application form.

FMGE October 2026 Result Date

NBEMS has scheduled the FMGE October 2026 result to be declared by November 30, 2026.

The wording “by November 30” means the result may be announced on or before that date. Candidates should follow the official NBEMS result notice instead of assuming November 30 will necessarily be the exact publication day.

What Happens After Passing FMGE?

Passing the examination is an important step, but it is not the final administrative step toward medical registration.

Qualified candidates are issued FMGE Pass Certificates after in-person document and identity verification. The October bulletin states that this is tentatively expected within approximately four weeks of declaration of the result, although the period can vary because of unforeseen circumstances.

Qualified candidates must attend the prescribed in-person verification process, which can include verification of credentials, finger biometrics and Face ID. The schedule for FMGE Pass Certificate distribution will be published by NBEMS after declaration of the result.

Issuance of an FMGE Pass Certificate by NBEMS does not by itself confer an automatic right to medical registration in India. The appropriate medical council will determine eligibility for provisional or permanent registration after verifying the applicable credentials and regulatory requirements.

Why the October 2026 Session Matters

The October session creates another examination opportunity for eligible foreign medical graduates during 2026 and comes as NBEMS moves to conducting FMGE three times a year.

10 FMGE Application Mistakes to Avoid

1. Submitting a duplicate application instead of using the official correction mechanism.
2. Using an unofficial application or payment link.
3. Entering Name, Nationality, Aadhaar, Email, Mobile Number or Test City incorrectly without realising these cannot be changed during the main edit window.
4. Entering a date of birth, passport detail, qualification detail or other information that does not match supporting documents.
